MRPS PIE Hires Executive Director

MRPS PIE (Montpelier Roxbury Partners in Education) is excited to announce that we have hired our first Executive Director! Vic Guadagno is our new Executive Director. He will work to better build the organization's day to day operations, support the MRPS PIE Caregiver groups, build and support the MRPS PIE Board, be a strong advocate for our students and develop a strong fundraising strategy.

Here's a bit about Vic:

Victor Guadagno is an Emmy-award winning producer and founder/managing director of the media non-profit, Bright Blue Ecomedia. He holds a BS in industrial engineering from Northeastern University and an MS in leadership for sustainability from the University of Vermont. He produces the Bordertown podcast, which recently turned its attention to stories of the Central Vt. flood and the rebuilding effort. The father of a MSMS 8th grader, he is excited about contributing to the wellbeing of our community and school district, with a particular focus on storytelling and ecological design.

TalkSpace - FREE service for students & families 13+

MRPS students (13+), employees and employee household members (13+) now have FREE access to mental health support! Talkspace is a live, digital mental health service that connects members to thousands of dedicated providers from a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. With Talkspace therapy, you can schedule two live sessions (via chat, audio, or video) with a Talkspace therapist each month. And you can send unlimited messaging to your therapist via text, voice or video messages - anytime, anywhere. Talkspace is completely anonymous, and the only information MRPS will see is the number of people using the service.

Start accessing it today at www.talkspace.com/MRPS - click “Get Started.” Then as you enter your information, type “MRPS” as your organization name. Registration can be done any time. Talkspace communication is confidential and secure. No one will ever know who uses the service or for what purpose.

For questions about Talkspace, contact Jessica Murray, Director of SEL and Wellness, at jessicamurray@mpsvt.org

Popcorn Friday is Back!

We are excited to bring back one of MSMS’s most beloved programs. After years away, popcorn is coming back to MSMS! Popcorn for Everyone at MSMS - every other Friday throughout the school year!

Upon the return of Popcorn Friday, we reexamined the program with equity in mind - we want all students and staff to enjoy popcorn without worrying about how to pay for it. So we're going to fund Popcorn Fridays entirely outside the school building. Please consider making a donation of any amount that feels comfortable to you.

If you are interested in volunteering for this program, email msmscommunications@mrpspie.org

NOTE: our popcorn is peanut and tree nut free. We also use canola oil, salt and optional nutritional yeast.
